New Tapichalaca lodge

Work was recently completed on a small, two-storey house in the Tapichalaca Reserve. The building provides accommodation for the Reserve's guardian, Arturo León, and for visitors to the reserve. For visitors, there are three bedrooms each equipped with a bathroom. A total of 6-8 visitors can be accommodated at one time.

The house is ideally located for experiencing all features of the temperate Andean cloud forest of southern Ecuador. Numerous hummingbirds visit feeders placed around the building. Many flocks of birds forage in the adjacent trees and with luck and patience, more elusive species like the Jocotoco Antpitta or Andean Bear can also be found nearby.

Visitors to the reserve and the lodge are welcome and encouraged. The easiest way to arrange this is to contact a local ecotourism company. To help you, here are some suggestions:
